Year 4 Habitats Project - The Arctic habitat
By Lizzie Henshaw and Abigail Wilson
A look at which animals live in different habitats around the world and why they choose that habitat. The food chains in the habitat were also investigated. This was an extremely well labelled model which accampanied an extremely interesting report.
The Mysterious Cave
By Thomas Jacobs Year 4
“David come and look at this!”
“What is it Sophie?” Cried David exasperated.
David was a tall, ten year old boy, who had hazel hair and had a lot of trouble keeping up with his sister. His sister, Sophie, on the other hand was always rushing about. She was David’s twin, who liked her hair in pigtails and loved to wear a pink T-Shirt and blue trousers.
The two children had gone camping with their parents. They went off exploring and discovered a cave in a cliff at the end of a forest. When they entered it was dark and scary. They felt their way through the lightless cave, but they had only gone ten metres when they reached a dead end and they left disappointed. They returned to their parents and found them in a glade preparing their tents. They sat down to have a picnic in the sun and, as evening came, they packed up and went inside their tents to sleep.
Then that night there was a great cracking sound! Centaurs, fauns, dryads, nyads and tall graceful elves came swarming out of the cave like bats out of Hell. They began to dance and feast and generally have fun.
All was well when, suddenly, a faun came running from the trees yelling “humans, humans!” As if a nearby volcano was erupting the creatures started yelling and screaming and running. They tripped and fell, yelled and ran, startling the forest animals when suddenly a loud but beautiful voice was heard over the onslaught.
“Quiet!”
Everything stopped as if magic words had been said. A tall slender elf woman stepped forward. She wore a black leather shirt with sleeves that went to her elbows. Her trousers were made of the same material. Her ginger hair fell to her waist and she held a long, thin, sheathless sword at her side.
“Come, show us to these humans.” She cried.
The faun nodded and led them to the camp where the humans were sleeping. The elf looked for one brief moment and the said, “We must leave here at once.”
The mystical creatures bowed to the elf woman and followed her like wild trained dogs, back to the cave, leaving the human world forever. But, if you happen to stumble on an old cave, remember this story for it is true. I am that Elf Queen and this is my story.
