Science in Key Stage 1
Science is an exciting subject at Bishopsgate and many budding scientists are continuing to build their skills and knowledge in Key Stage 1. Pupils are incredibly curious about phenomena and events in the world around them and desperate to investigate some of these.
Our pupils are taught to observe, explore and ask questions. They learn to make predictions, to record information, including measurements. They learn to set up fair tests and then communicate their findings in a variety of ways. IT is used for many of these activities.
Topics across the key stage include life and living processes, materials and their properties and physical processes. Studies in the latter topic involve pupils learning about electricity and making simple circuits with switches, forces and motion and light and sound.
Science in our Lower School is celebrated during Science Week. A morning of hands-on activities is set up for pupils and staff to enjoy!
