Boarding at Bishopsgate

Boarding at Bishopsgate

Boarding fulfils a very important role in our school community. Out of a school of 330 pupils we can offer just 13 boarding places, making it unique and much sought after! Our accommodation is newly refurbished and very comfortable, providing a homely atmosphere. We offer weekly and flexi-boarding for all pupils in Year 3 and above and can sometimes accommodate younger pupils.

What’s so special about Boarding at Bishopsgate?

Pastoral care is of paramount importance in the Boarding House and all pupils are encouraged to develop personally and socially, according to their individual needs. Targets are set for each boarder who stays, whether it be for one night or more regularly. Our dedicated team of tutors is always on hand to help pupils achieve their potential, offering individual and personalised support at all times. Boarders have plenty of activity time in the evening, during which they are able to access a range of facilities and encouraged to try new things. We organise games in the Sports Hall or in our beautiful grounds, use our ICT and library facilities, try new arts and crafts, learn cooking skills from our chef and much more! There is also time and space to relax quietly- in dorm rooms or the Common Room. Boarders often find themselves making new friends during their stay with us and they all benefit from working and living together as a community.

Academic Support

All boarders from Year 5 upwards have a 30 minute prep session every day. This session replaces the second prep they would normally complete at home. A member of staff supervises the session and is on hand to support learning and help with any difficulties. At exam times, or even before smaller subject tests, boarders are given opportunities to build more structured revision time into their evening. Boarders have reading time before bedtime every evening, a chance for them to relax and unwind and enjoy a good book, whether they are reading on their own or being read to.
